Job summary
This is a 6-months fixed-term locum post at North Middlesex University Hospital (part of the Royal Free London) due to an ST4 maternity leave vacancy from June. Applications are invited from doctors who have completed FY training or are further in their medical career and already have previous experience in Palliative Care. It is ideal for any doctor looking to expand their palliative care skills, and to prepare for application to internal, general or palliative medicine training. They will work as part of and with support from the hospital palliative care team, which comprises clinical nurse specialists, resident doctors (IMT, GPTVS and StR), a nurse consultant and 4 LTFT palliative medicine consultants as well as admin support. It is a 7-day 9-5pm nurse-led advisory service serving the hospital adult population and working with teams in all departments, including an ED palliative care service and CCU support. This is not a formally approved training post, but the postholder will join a busy and supportive department, have consultant-led education and supervision and will be supported in their professional development. The postholder will take part in a weekend / BH on-call, 1:5 covered by CNSs and resident doctors, with a consultant 2ndon-call. There is also the opportunity to participate in bank shifts at the hospital if desired.
Main duties of the job

NMUH has recently merged with the Royal Free Group, it remains an active DGH and Oncology treatment centre with a diverse community in North London.The successful candidate would be employed by the Royal Free Trust, to work at NMUH. The North Middlesex hospital palliative care team comprises clinical nurse specialists, resident doctors (IMT, GPTVS and StR), a nurse consultant and 4 part time palliative medicine consultants as well as admin support. It is a nurse-led advisory service serving the hospital adult population and working closely with our community partners.
