The Division of Psychology and Neuropsychology at Tampa General Hospital, a nationally recognized academic health center, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Health Psychologist for a distinctive role that integrates both inpatient and outpatient care. This full-time position offers a rare and rewarding opportunity to provide comprehensive psychological services across the continuum of care—supporting patients in the hospital setting while also offering outpatient follow-up to ensure continuity and depth of treatment.

The role is evenly divided between serving on our inpatient consultation-liaison psychology team and delivering targeted outpatient interventions for patients navigating acute and chronic medical conditions. Working within an interdisciplinary environment, the psychologist will collaborate closely with medical teams to address the behavioral, emotional, and psychosocial factors that influence health outcomes. Responsibilities include individual and family therapy, brief psychological interventions, and behavior change strategies that support medical adherence and recovery.

This position also offers exciting opportunities for program development, clinical research, and supervision of postdoctoral fellows and trainees within our growing academic department. We are seeking a candidate who brings strong clinical acumen, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for integrated care to enhance the health and well-being of our diverse patient population.

TGH is the area’s only Level I trauma center and one of just two ABA-verified adult & pediatric burn centers in Florida. As the region’s leading safety net hospital, Tampa General is committed to providing our patients with world-class and compassionate health care ranging from the simplest to the most complex medical services. TGH is affiliated with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Psychologists have key leadership roles within their multidisciplinary teams and participate in world class clinical care, training and applied clinical research.

Key Responsibilities: · Conduct psychological assessments, brief interventions, and evidence-based therapeutic treatments for patients with acute and chronic illness · Offer crisis intervention, grief counseling, and support to patients, families, and staff. · Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create comprehensive, patient-centered care plans. · Provide education, training, and supervision to psychology interns, residents, and other trainees. · Contribute to ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives related to trauma and burn care. · Engage in program development and community outreach efforts.
      · Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program. · Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in Florida. · Fellowship or specialized training in consultation liaison, trauma psychology, or medical psychology preferred. · Experience working with burn and trauma patients in a healthcare setting. · Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills. · A commitment to evidence-based practices and continued professional development.
