      • Position Summary
        • The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the economic and day-to-day operations of the Mother Baby department. The Nurse Manager assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care and provides for the development and evaluation of unit personnel. This includes a commitment to empowering staff. The Clinical Nurse Manager demonstrates leadership abilities while maintaining the operational aspects of the Mother Baby Department in collaboration with Administration. The Nurse Manager functions within the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
      • Education
        • Bachelors in Nursing - Required
      • Experience
        • 2-3 Years Obstetrical/Neonatal Experience - Preferred
        • Two or more years of obstetrical/neonatal experience - Two or more years of leadership/management experience - Demonstrated flexibility and dedication to team involvement- Proven communication and interpersonal skills
      • License & Certification
        • Registered Nurse License with State of Practice - Required
        • National Certification in specialty area
        • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
        • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR) - Required in 6 months of hire date

      • Core Job Functions
        • Obtains patient care information through daily unit reports, patient rounds, focus review rounds, discharge rounds. Responds to requests of case escalation to assist in complex patient discharge planning. Track and analyze overall quality patient care, identify and respond to problems.
        • Maintains knowledge of staff educational needs and activities related to the unit. Oversees and plans for unit staff educational needs including new hires orientation. Coaching and counseling of with staff for development needs, career planning, and to ensure quality patient care. Coaching staff “in the moment” as staff delivers patient care.
        • Facilitates patient and family understanding of the risks, benefits, and outcomes of proposed healthcare regimen to promote informed decision making. Promotes a practice climate conducive to providing ethical care. Facilitates interdisciplinary teams to address ethical concerns, risks or considerations, benefits and outcomes of patient care.
        • Monitors reports, coordinates Performance Improvement efforts, reviews and revises policies and guidelines as required. Action plans are implemented for variant patient outcomes. Unit based Balanced Scorecards are posted timely and reviewed with staff.
        • Provides leadership for establishing, improving, and sustaining collaborative relationships to meet client needs. Assesses the quality and effectiveness of interdisciplinary, intra-agency, and inter-agency communication and collaboration. Establishes collaborative relationships within and across departments that promote patient safety, culturally competent care, and clinical excellence.
        • Provide leadership to staff in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, and outcome achievement. Demonstrate fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources. Demonstrates a clear understanding of regulations applicable to patient care and/or department functions.
        • Assures compliance with all departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the prioritization of work area activities to ensure efficient functioning of daily patient care tasks. Assists in directing and supervision the activities of technicians to ensure completion of assigned work in an accurate and timely manner.
