- Accountable to support/participate the Division of Nursing’s Performance Improvement process.
- Participate in community activities.
- Function as a resource in the charge nurse role for all aspects of patient care delivery.
- Continuously evaluate patient care delivered to all patients and families.
- Maintain knowledge and responsibility for patients on the unit.
- Assume direct patient care responsibility as needed, to meet identified patient care needs.
- Utilizes therapeutic communication when dealing with patients and families.
- Demonstrates skillful communication by adapting techniques based on the situation.
- Collaborates with staff, patients/families, and members of the health care team to facilitate patient outcomes.
- Written communication reflects clear concise, goal directed, and objective information.
- Leads hospital/division projects or committees.
- Manage conflict effectively by giving feedback in a constructive, positive, and objective manner.
- Assist staff in conflict resolution.
- Assist staff to evaluate their own behavior and its impact on others.
- Organize unit operations for the delivery of patient care and identified outcomes.
- Prioritize and direct unit to ensure quality care.
- Facilitate changes by actively participating in the change process.
- Maintain and encourage unit cohesiveness by maintaining a productive work atmosphere.
- Support staff through stressful situations.
- Commend work efforts of staff.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to problem solve unit issues.
- Complete performance evaluations for assigned staff in a timely manner.
- Plan activities to meet own educational needs.
- Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance
- Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
- Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
5 years Nursing experience. Demonstrated experience in a charge nurse role in a comparable setting. Minimum of one-year recent pediatric experience in a comparable setting. Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated nursing leadership experience. (Required)
