      Job summary

      This is an exciting opportunity for two new roles to be part of the developing Immunotherapy service within JCCISM. The roles will work closely with the SACT/ Immunotherapy Clinical Lead, SACT lead nurse and ACP for Immunotherapy to deliver high quality care and service, develop this growing immunotherapy service to deliver equitable care to patients in collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues and the primary health care team.

      The post holders will work across all tumour groups within the cancer services, providing specialist nursing advice, information and support to patients requiring immunotherapy treatment and toxicity management.

      The post holders will provide assistance, support and health promotion advice to other staff, whilst improving clinical practice, enhancing service provision and streamlining patient focused care.

      The post holders will be active members of the multi-disciplinary team and network with other professionals, locally and nationally for the purpose of developing practice, research and audit, development of standardised patient information, and clinical supervision.

      The post involves working Monday to Friday across multiple hospital sites to meet the clinical need of the service.

      Main duties of the job

      To develop and provide a coordinated specialist immunotherapy service in both out-patient and in-patient setting.

      Provide expert care, specialist advice and support to both patients and their carers who are receiving or have received immune checkpoint inhibitors.

      Provide specialist nursing service to patients requiring management of immunotherapy related toxicities. This includes supporting with patient assessment, and managing a caseload of patient where they directly on indirectly influence all aspect of patient care, and implementing specialist care

      Act as an education resource for health care professionals, patients and carers

      Provide expert advice to nursing groups within oncology department and the wider trust.

      It is essential that a close working relationship is formed with the other roles within the specialist team to ensure up to date advice is available and onward referral is appropriate and timely to improve patients' outcomes.

      The post holder will support the immunotherapy service by contributing to the provision of a cost effective, efficient quality service that meets the needs of the patient caseload / client group

      The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in immunotherapy is multifaceted, incorporating key functions such as policy and standard development, education, audits, research and professional development

      The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size.       The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
