Job summary
The endocrinology department at St Bartholomew's Hospital is one of the largest in the country and treats around 2,000 new patients each year from across the UK, around 200 of whom are diagnosed with rare endocrine cancers. The service has been awarded 'centre of excellence' status by ENSAT, an international network dedicated to improving care for patients with adrenal tumours, for its outstanding contribution to both care and research. The Endocrinology department has a vacancy for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), with a particular focus on pituitary endocrine tumours and disorrders, delivering best quality nursing within an expert, specialist service to patients diagnosed with those disorders at St Bartholomew's Hospital, in addition to providing support to their relatives and significant others. The role includes developing, implementing and evaluating a seamless specialist service ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care and have access to the full resources of the multi-disciplinary endocrine team

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work at St Bartholomew's Hospital, focusing on supporting and key working patients with pituitary tumours or those who have developed pituitary dysfunction secondary to a pre-existing condition or treatment-induced hypophysitis. This will be achieved through clinical practice, management of patient caseload, education, research, audit and professional activities relating to Endocrinology care.

The post-holder will promote safe, competent and evidence-based practice, in line with national objectives and within the clinical governance framework. He/she will also provide relevant, up to date and ongoing education support and training for nurses and student nurses working, or on placement, at the Trust, in consultation with the professional development nurses.
