Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cambridge University Hospitals Vascular access Unit as a clinical Nurse Specialist. We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Vascular Access Nurse to join our specialised team. The successful candidate will need to be already competent and experienced in inserting PICC lines and will have a proven background in providing leadership with assessment, development and implementation of specialised nursing duties within the speciality.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as an expert practitioner, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing the specialist nursing care provided by the team.
They will frequently lead the shift, triaging referrals and leading and managing the team.
They will act as an autonomous practitioner, able to independently insert PICC lines, whilst working towards more complex line insertions.
Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training.

Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area.
They will act as Deputy for the Lead CNS, supporting them in operationalising the strategic direction of the service.
