      Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Clinical Nutrition LabSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:The Clinical Nutrition Laboratory Technician is responsible for the preparation, distribution, inventory and management of enteral nutrition (human milk, formulas, and additives). Critical functions include:

      Use of the bar code scanning software to manage receipt, storage, preparation, labeling, and delivery of human milk.
      Keep work surfaces and equipment clean before, during, and after each feeding preparation of feeding.
      Calculate and write recipes for each feeding, utilizing resources in the nutrition lab or consulting the dietitian as needed.
      Prepare feedings, following all safe practices and according to precise calculations in each recipe
      Store prepared feedings in appropriate temperature-controlled environments before, during, and at delivery.
      Take responsibility for discarding expired feedings located in the patient care areas according to protocol.
      Communicate with appropriate personnel (nursing, parent, dietitian, and/or medical provider) any questions or concerns about feedings or recipes.
      Collect and ship donated human milk.
      Think critically while adhering to policies and processes.
      Communicate with a focus on a positive outcome, particularly during problem solving.
      Maintain customer service and remain sensitive to the stress parents experience during their child's hospitalization. Includes providing positive support and encouragement to breast feeding moms.
      Work seamlessly with the department personnel, particularly in the small space of the nutrition lab and while managing multiple critical but small tasks. Includes both slow and hectic times.

      10-hour shifts, 4 days per week; every other weekend and every other holiday.

      Associates degree or 3 years' experience in applicable area (ex: dietetics, food and nutrition, human milk technician, clinical laboratory, human tissue bank, biosciences, pharmacy lab, patient care assistant or medical assistant).
