      Job summary

      Western Road Surgery is looking for a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team. This is a new role for us and we look forward to building this with you. We hope this person will be central in both managing acute illness and moving to pro-actively look after our patients better. This role will be partly patient facing (face to face appointments), partly phone calls and partly behind the scenes work which could be carried out from home where agreed. We would consider an applicant who wanted to work between 3 and 5 days a week and build a role as appropriate.

      Main duties of the job

      This role will include diagnosis and management of acute conditions/ minor illness, and also chronic disease management to include Structured Medical reviews. We hope this person will work alongside our GPs to improve the long term wellness of our patients.

      Western Road Surgery is a busy and growing Practice in the commuter town of Billericay. We're now the largest Practice in town (12,700 patients) and are eager to maintain our excellent reputation as we grow. Our team is made up of 6 GP Partners, Practice Nurses, Care-Co Ordinators and GP Assistants, as well as other Clinical Partners who work off site for Billericay PCN. We are a supportive team who look forward to supporting your growth and building this role around your strengths.

      - Diagnosing and treating Minor Illness (prescribing independently as appropriate)

      - Long term condition reviews (ie asthma, COPD, diabetes, Learning Disability etc)

      - Interpretation of test results requested relevant to the above.

      - Structured Medication Reviews

      - Actively working towards improving the medicines management for our patients including audit and service development.

      - Potential for working on Research studies relating to prescribing as Western Road Surgery is a research practice.

      - Promoting the principles of excellent prescribing to the wider staff team.

      • - Post graduate experience working in Pharmacy.
      • - Excellent Communication Skills.
      • - Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
      • - Evidence of dedication to Continued Professional Development
      • - Be enrolled in or have qualified from a CPPE-commissioned training pathway

      Desirable

      • - Independent Prescribing Qualification
      • - Excellent IT skills with knowledge of SystmOne and Microsoft packages
