- Develops, implements new and maintains current clinical quality and cost saving programs.
- Identifies and develops strategies for communications for physicians, members, internal departments and external customers.
- Performs analysis of pharmacy data to identify opportunities to impact drug cost and utilization opportunities, including review of the monthly pharmacy and specialty pharmacy reports and the creation of new reporting tools as needed.
- Supports, maintains and monitor sthe HNE formularies, additions and changes and manage communications to members.
- Supports internal departments such as Finance, Sales, Member and Provider Services through education about pharmacy issues and benefit updates, providing actual and trend data, etc.
- Partners with Disease Management, Health Services, Health Programs and Behavioral Health to provide integrated clinical services to HNE members.
- Participates in the company Process Improvement Program activities and activities related to the HNE Coaching Culture.
- Provides clinical support for the Pharmacy Services Manager and Medical Directors
- Attendance, coordination, and presentation of materials for monthly (6 times a year) P&T Committee in the evening.
- Review of outlier issues with Pharmacy Services Coordinator and staff
- Identifies opportunities for savings or improvement of processes
- Minimum two years pharmacy experience required, preferably in a Managed Care environment
- Sound clinical pharmacy knowledge base and the desire to maintain and expand on this base
- Experience in pharmacy utilization analysis and reporting helpful
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Self directed, self motivated and detail oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office programs
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to relate to all levels of professionals
SUMMARY: The Clinical Pharmacist provides support in the implementation and development of Pharmacy Services activities and initiatives developed for the provision of quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical care involving providers, members and practice managers. The Clinical Pharmacist will support the Director of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Department in the management of pharmacy services for all HNE members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Support – 60%
Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee Support – 20%
Departmental Support – 20%
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
RPh licensure with BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD or related experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a standard office-based environment
