- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
- Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
- Experience or demonstrable knowledge of working with the particular client group served by the team/service
- Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc)
- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
- High level of knowledge and skills in neuropsychology and evidence of further practice and/or training since qualification.
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist on a fixed term contract to join the Brighton and Hove Children in Care Emotional Well -Being Service. The focus of this service is to work together to develop positive relationships across multiagency networks and to make plans for interventions] based on a shared understanding of the needs, vulnerabilities and strengths of children and young people in care who have experienced developmental trauma. You would join a small team providing a consultation service to the network around the child:-social workers, foster carers and others. The post also involves providing therapeutic parenting support, relevant training to social workers, psychological assessment of children's needs, cognitive assessments and direct attachment-informed interventions with Children in care and their foster carers.
BHSCCwork to an innovative and relational based model and supports its social work teams in a 'Pod' structure. You will be supervised by a principal psychologist and have access to relevant secondary supervision packages (e.g. DDP). You will be joining a community of clinical psychologists and other professionals who meet for quarterly Pan Sussex Psychology CPD events.
Main duties of the job
You will contribute to the emotional wellbeing, psychological and mental health thinking of the network around a child/young person in care through offering consultations that support a comprehensive understanding of the young people's psychological needs from an attachment and developmental trauma perspective.
You will hold a small caseload, offering dyadic attachment-informed work.
You will provide therapeutic parenting support to Foster Carers.
You may co-facilitate Therapeutic Parenting Groups for Foster Carers, and training for Social Workers.
You will carry out, or supervise, cognitive assessments of children and young people.
You may offer clinical and professional supervision to Assistant Psychologist/s and Trainee Psychologist/s within the service.
Supervision will be provided by a principal clinical psychologist.
