- Working with senior psychologist providing specialist assessments formal psychometric assessments and others as appropriate
- Providing psychological treatment, management and advice to young people their families and the team using a number of psychological interventions
- Working collaboratively as part of a multi disciplinary team offering psychological formulations
- Joining with others to run psychology based group(s)
- Joining with team members to run systemic and psychological supervision groups for the team
- Case managing several young people from admission through to discharge; doing family work with the family therapist; liaising with parents and carers, health, education, social care, voluntary sector from a range of areas
- Clinical Psychology Professional Registration.
- Experience of working with young people and families in social care
- Experience of working with children and carers with mental health challenges.
- Be compassionate and demonstrate excellent patient care & leadership skills.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Keen to be involved in all areas above, participating in regular supervision, participating in post graduate training where appropriate, supervising assistant psychologist and trainee psychologists.

- Skills in the assessment of developmental, family, intrapersonal, risk and mental health factors for adults and children under five years of age and their families. oAbility to build therapeutic relationships with adults with emotional distress and mental health difficulties, and their children
- Working autonomously with families providing an assessment and treatment service. oKnowledge and skills in a range of models in the assessment and treatment of child mental health.
- Knowledge and skills in effective communication, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Ability to form good working relationships and work flexibly with others in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency setting.
- Ability to identify and employ mechanisms of clinical governance as appropriate, to support and maintain clinical practice.
- Experience of generic and discipline specific mental health assessments, treatments and safeguarding of Adults, babies and children and families within the age range of 1-5 years.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join our team on a permanent basis. This post offers a rare opportunity to work in the exciting and interesting field of inpatient adolescent psychiatry.
Simmons House is a 12 bedded in-patient unit for adolescents 13 - 17 years of age with severe and complex mental health needs. The unit operates a therapeutic milieu, to establish an ethos where both the individual and group are respected.
We pride ourselves in working collaboratively within a well-supported and well supervised multi-disciplinary team; we encourage our staff to use and develop their skills, getting involved in many aspects of care of the young people.
The role of clinical psychology in our team is fundamental to the care and wellbeing of the young people we work with.
We are committed to ongoing professional development and opportunities to develop skills with in-house training, our wider CAMHS service and other training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Clinical work:doing assessments with young people using formal developmental psychometric and other assessment methods
Providing assessment and treatment using cognitive behavioural, systemic solution focused, psychodynamic interventions as appropriate
Work with MDT offering formulations, to provide and support rationales for care plans
Work with MDT to provide regular weekly psychology groups
Case manage several young people - organising and responsible for supporting them from admission to discharge - includes family work with the family therapist; liaising with parents and carers, health, education, social care, voluntary sector.
T eaching training and supervising:receive regular clinical supervision from senior clinical psychologist and as appropriate other senior colleagues
Participate in agreed programme of post-qualification training and professional development
Continue to develop skills in the area of professional post graduate teaching training and supervision
Contribute as appropriate to supervision of assistant psychologist and trainee psychologists
Management Policy and service development:contribute to development, evaluation, implementation and monitoring of Simmons house operational policies and service, in clinical assessment, treatment, research, service evaluation and audit.
Involved as appropriate in shortlisting and interviewing of assistant psychologist and trainee psychologists
