      The Massachusetts General Hospital Sexual Health Clinic is a growing outpatient practice within the Division of Infectious Disease that provides comprehensive screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) and doxycycline PEP. We care for patients of all genders ages 13 and above with concerns for STIs, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and HIV. We are seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to join our team. The Clinical Research Assistant will be central to the function and success of the clinic.

      The Clinical Research Assistant position encompasses a variety of clinical, research, and administrative tasks and responsibilities which serve to facilitate the flow of patients through the clinic and to enhance the quality of care to patients. This role will have both research and administrative responsibilities.

      The Clinical Research Assistant will practice in accordance with the rules, regulations and standards of the Division of Infectious Disease and Massachusetts General Hospital.

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Coordinates research data activities:

      • Ensures compliance with research protocols. Completes, reviews, and/or audits case report forms for completion and accuracy with source documents.
      • Performs quality assurance on data collection
      • Enters study-related data into a variety of databases
      • Responds to data queries

      Coordinates regulatory submissions and correspondence:

      • Prepares IRB application/submissions for new studies and amendments for current studies
      • Maintains regulatory files that include consent forms, eligibility checklists etc.
      • Participates in regulatory audits

      Recruits patients for clinical research studies:

      • Reviews patient charts and identifies potential study subjects based on study inclusion/exclusion criteria
      • Assists in developing study recruitment strategies including preparing outreach study materials such as web sites, advertisements, fliers etc.
      • Interfaces with potential study participants to promote clinical trials and research
      • Communicates with community groups and health care centers to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical research.

      Assists study staff with study implementation:

      • Assembles materials for study visits
      • Monitors scheduling of procedures
      • Organizes charts for study visits
      • Assists with various study visit procedures as necessary which may include questionnaire administration, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.

      Provides administrative assistance in the outpatient practice

      · Schedules patient appointments

      · Completes clerical tasks including, but not limited to completing pre and post-visit-related paperwork including copying and scanning.

      · Verifies specimen labeling and requisition accuracy prior to transport.

      · Maintains database of all testing done in the unit and results of same.

      · Maintains inventory of supplies, including medications.

      · Uses and provides basic maintenance of lab equipment such as microscopes, centrifuge, incubator, and refrigerators.

      · Maintains documentation of lab quality control and temperatures.

      · Performs other responsibilities required by the Division/Sexual Health Clinic.

      · Adheres to all established safety policies, clinical policy and procedures, and infection control precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation. Documents and complies with hospital standards of care.

      · Excels in effective and positive communications with patients, partners, staff, and interdisciplinary staff.

      · Proficiency with MGH computer systems as needed to independently perform daily tasks (Epic preferred).

      · Treats colleagues with respect.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      • High School diploma required
      • Some college preferred
      • Fluency in languages other than English strongly desired
