Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (Kristin Javaras, DPhil, PhD) and Assistant Director (Jennifer Sneider, PhD) and following established policies and procedures, the laboratory assistant will provide occasional assistance for up to 15 hours a week on research studies in the area of eating disorders and eating behavior. This position will include: (1) assisting with a neuroimaging study in women with and without eating disorders, including preparing for study visits, assisting with participant assessment, task administration, imaging scans, and other physiological measurements during experimental and potentially eligibility study visits, and completing research documentation; (2) assisting with a chart review study of anorexia nervosa; (3) assisting with literature reviews and other tasks for a project examining outcomes after residential treatment for eating disorders; and (4) assisting with a project developing a database of semi-standardized snack food images for use in research; and (5) assisting with manuscript writing and grant preparation.
Please note that the neuroimaging experimental visits take place all day at McLean Hospital on either a Saturday or Sunday. Eligibility visits can take place at any time, including regular work hours, weekday evenings, or weekends. These visits are often scheduled with relatively short notice based on participant and scanner availability and potentially participant menstrual phase.

Job Summary
Summary
Working under the supervision of a Senior Research Assistant, Manager or Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, provides assistance on clinical research studies.
Supervisor available to handle unusual situations and regularly reviews progress of work.

Essential Functions
-Collects and organizes patient data.
-Maintains records and databases.
-Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports.
-Recruiting patients for clinical trials, conducts phone interviews and schedules patients for visits.
-Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.
-Conducts library searches.
-Performs administrative support duties as required.
-Verifies accuracy of study forms.
-Updates study forms per protocol.
-Prepares data for analysis and data entry.
-Assists with formal audits of data.
-Documents patient visits and procedures.
-Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC procedures.
-Assists with interviewing study subjects.
-Administers and scores questionnaires.
-Provides basic explanation of study and in some cases obtains informed consent from subjects.
-Performs study procedures such as phlebotomy.
-Assists with study regulatory submissions.
-Writes consent forms.
-Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria.
