      The Physical Activity Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator position, starting September 1, 2024.


      The Clinical Research Coordinator will closely work with Dr. Duck-chul Lee (PI) and his research team including Dr. I-Min Lee (MPI) at Harvard Medical School for a newly funded National Institutes of Health (NIH) project (R01HL171098), “Dose-Response to Resistance Exercise on Cardiovascular Health (DoReps)” to test the effects of different doses of resistance exercise on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk profile by conducting a 1-year exercise trial in 240 adults with obesity. This clinical trial will help fill important gaps in our knowledge on effective minimum, beneficial optimal, and safe maximum dose(s) of resistance exercise for CVD prevention.

      Job Responsibilities:

      • Research participant recruitment, scheduling, and management
      • Exercise programming and monitoring
      • Fitness and clinical data collection and entry
      • Undergraduate research assistants supervision

      The incumbent will learn how to design 1-year exercise program, monitoring and retention, and injury prevention (This job would be great for Exercise Science (Kinesiology) students who are planning to apply for a graduate school such as physical/occupational therapy or medicine, as well as those who are looking for a job in a fitness, corporate wellness, or health promotion field).

      We are specifically looking for a person-centric individual with good people skills since the job includes significant interactions with research participants. Search will continue until the position is filled.

      • Bachelor/MS degree in Exercise Science (Kinesiology) or related field with a preferred GPA >3.0
        Excellent teamwork and communication skills
        Currently certified (or willing to become certified) in first aid and CPR/AED

      Oversees research participants and equipment safety standards during aerobic exercise sessions by monitoring study participants of varying age and medical conditions. Assists with testing protocols, travels to exercise sites, and enforces standard operating procedures.

      • Oversees research participants and equipment safety standards during aerobic exercise sessions; takes blood pressure readings and records and monitors heart rate for study participants of varying age and medical conditions during sessions.
      • Maintains detailed data logs of participation and attendance; motivates participants as needed; conducts follow-up communications with participants upon absence/s.
      • Assists with testing protocols as directed.
      • Understands, follows, and enforces standard operating procedures.

      Lifting, pushing, and pulling of 50 lbs. Computer work and verbal communication are required.
