Roles & Responsibilities
The Motivation and Affective Psychopathologies Lab (MAPlab) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York is seeking a full-time research assistant (or a Clinical Research Coordinator) with a strong interest in cognitive neuroscience and brain imaging for an immediate start date. MAPlab's mission is to study cognitive-affective interactions underlying deficits in motivation, reinforcement learning and inhibitory control in neuropsychiatric conditions, specifically in substance use disorders. In MAPlab, special emphasis is placed on understanding disease mechanisms with an eye towards developing and validating clinically useful biomarkers to accelerate bench-to-bedside translation of lab-based assessments.
Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Muhammad Parvaz), the incumbent will be mainly involved with participant recruitment, scheduling, data acquisition, and general study coordination. The research assistant will assist with study visits, working with individuals with substance use disorders and other psychiatric disorders, and EEG data collection and organization. Additional responsibilities include preparing detailed agendas and data updates for meetings. The position will require flexible hours, including late evenings and weekends.
This is a great position for those wanting research experience before applying for graduate school or medical school. Our team has a strong track record of mentoring research assistants who have gone on to pursue medical school or doctoral programs in clinical psychology, cognitive and basic neuroscience.
