The Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center (A2DRC) at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center seeks qualified applicants for the position of Clinical Research Manager I. The Clinical Research Manager will provide program management and leadership for the Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center's (A2DRC) Clinical Research Unit (CRU). In this role, they will oversee the day-to-day operations for the unit and will have a significant role in the oversight of all federally- and industry-funded trials in asthma, allergy, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis and other airway-related conditions. The incumbent will supervise a research team of 5 - 10 clinical research coordinators and research nurses in the field of respiratory disease.

      Duties & Responsibilities
      • Project Management: Identify key resources, establish project organization structure and manage project team by providing the direction required for meeting the project objectives/deliverables. Manage day-to-day project activities. Clarify roles, responsibilities and deliverables for all study protocols and CRU staff.
      • Provide regular status reports to the Medical Director, Director of Operations, and PIs. Identify needs and work with A2DRC leadership to ensure appropriate systems/technologies are in place to support project requirements.
      • Create and distribute internal and external communications pertaining to critical project activities, deadlines, deliverables, and overall project progress.
      • Manage written and verbal communications with all stakeholders. Keep team members appropriately informed.
      • Mentor and Develop: Supervise a clinical trial research team of 5-10, assuring that all team members understand their roles, responsibilities and priorities among project activities.
      • Train and mentor all CRU personnel, ensuring all certifications are maintained.
      • Manage personnel resources and provide professional development opportunities for all. Facilitate group discussions.
      • Research and Analysis: Provide back-up to CRCs for all active protocols/study visits.
      • Direct study data collection and oversee data entry.
      • Monitor enrollment goals and modify recruitment strategies as necessary. Upon request, supply information to PIs and Center leadership to develop progress reports, posters, manuscripts, and abstracts.
      • Compliance: Ensure that the CRU staff adhere to all necessary Standard Operating Procedures and Good Clinical Practice.
      • Participate in continuing education on latest government, state, UA and hospital regulations of research activities by attending research-related seminars and monthly meetings offered by those entities.
      • Work with UAHS and A2DRC Regulatory teams to prepare and process IRB, FDA and sponsor regulatory document filings. Upon request supply information and support for trial start up and closeout procedures.
      • Travel may be required.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
      • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
      Preferred Qualifications * Conceptual knowledge and expertise of concepts, principles, and practices of respiratory clinical research.
      * Demonstrated management experience (minimum 2 years).
      * Experience with OnCore.
      * Database/data entry experience, specifically with RedCap.
      * Demonstrable experience working with both federal- and industry- sponsored clinical trials.
      * Prior experience as a coordinator/technician on multiple respiratory clinical trials.
