- An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 months fixed-term role as Clinical Research Nurse / Clinical Research Practitioner to join the Cancer Research team in the Clinical Research Facility.
- The Clinical Research Nurses / Clinical Research Practitioners play a key role in the delivery of clinical research at St. George's Hospital, developing and creating robust systems and processes to enable clinical research to run smoothly, efficiently and whilst ensuring the highest of standards are maintained.
- This role involves liaison with Principal Investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality data collection and clinical care, with a commitment to participant safety and welfare.

- The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of an agreed Haematology - Oncology / Cancer clinical research portfolio at St George's Hospital.
- The post holder will work collaboratively with the research teams and wider multidisciplinary team in the management of their own caseload of clinical trials patients and be accountable for the achievement of local and national targets in relation to the service.
- The post holder will be expected to advocate for patients and empower them to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical research studies by providing advice and information.
- The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy, taking delegated responsibility from clinicians for clinical decision making, and will work closely with investigators and multidisciplinary staff.
- RGN with NMC PIN
- Educated to diploma/degree level in Nursing
- Relevant post Registration programme
- ENB 998 0r professionally recognized equivalent teaching course
- Good Clinical Practice or willingness to be trained
- Relevant post registration/post degree experience
- Experience in delivering evidence based practice
- Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
- Experience of acting as a patient advocate
- Previous experience in audit and evaluation
- Experience in Clinical Research
- Experience of formal/informal teaching of patients and staff
- Experience working as a preceptor/facilitator
- Experience working in Oncology
- Excellent communication, interpersonal & management skills
- Well developed clinical skills
- Demonstrates ability to prioritise workload
- Competent use of relevant software specifically spreadsheets.
- Experience in ECG's, spirometry and phlebotomy
- Awareness of GCP, clinical research methodology and treatment protocols
- Participation in clinical or nursing research
- Self-motivated
- Adaptable & responsive to changing needs
- Reliable/Team player
- Able to use own initiative
- Committed to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
