      Position Overview

      Under the overall direction of the PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the STATISTICIAN is responsible for assisting researchers with statistical support services. Various facets of responsibilities in this portfolio include: providing statistical input to researchers involved in a variety of research settings; assisting with internal departmental reports and documents; reviewing and editing scientific articles, research papers, manuscripts; engaging in teaching and education opportunities such as presenting at internal monthly education rounds; providing research support by conducting literature reviews; consulting for research design and methodology, statistical design, and tests; and providing statistical and data analysis support.

      Experience

      • Minimum of 8 years of statistical/research experience required.
      • Prior authored/co-authored papers for presentation at conferences, publications required.
      • Familiarity with the regulatory requirements associated with conducting research in humans, including Tri-Council Policy statement, and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines an asset.
      • Familiarity with medical related terminology an asset.
      • Familiarity with accounting/bookkeeping an asset.

      Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

      • Graduate degree in statistics required.

      SPECIAL TRAINING:

      • Extensive working knowledge of statistical programs such as SAS, SPSS, related computer systems and software, spreadsheet, and database applications.
