      Position: Clinical Research Study Assistant

      Site: Princess Margaret Hospital

      Department: Department of Medical Oncology

      Reports to: Nurse Manager, Clinical Trials DMOH

      Status: PFT

      The Cancer Clinical Research Unit is embarking on the next chapter of development with the Convergence Centre. This Centre will focus on translational medicine in a patient friendly environment. The Clinical Research Study Assistant (CRSA) will provide a customer service role that helps with coordinating activities amongst study personnel and study subjects such as booking appointments; assists the team in ordering to study specific supplies; administrative functions for patient reimbursements; attend team meetings and huddles and may assist with transport of study specimens and medications.

      The CRSA applies fundamental knowledge of research principles, theories and concepts; applies knowledge of research regulations and guidelines, such as ICH/GCP guidelines, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki and FDA CFR and Health Canada TPD, as required, knowledge of medical terminology and/or dealing with regulatory issues.

      Key responsibilities include:

      · Scheduling study patient appointments

      · Registration of study patients for appointments

      · Ordering study specific and unit supplies

      · Assist with patient reimbursement requests

      · May assist the inter-professional team in performing study specific tasks

      QUALIFICATIONS

      · Community college diploma or equivalent, preferred in a health-related discipline

      · At least (3) three months of related experience, clinical research experience preferred

      · Clinical research experience preferred

      · Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      · Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail

      · Strong decision-making and problem solving skills

      · Ability to work with a team and independently

      · Highly motivated to work in healthcare

      · Proficiency with MS Office software (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required

      · Experience working in a health care environment preferred
