- Supervising the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in a designated service area whereby the nature and scope of the work performed, the size of the staff population supervised, and the activities occurring and the variety of issues/problems arising are of a complex and variable nature requiring a higher level of decision-making, problem-solving and judgment with considerable latitude to exercise same.
- Providing guidance to SLPs in a specific service area through clinical leadership, mentoring, supervision, education, evaluation and research.
- Contributing to the delivery of quality SLP services by examining, developing, refining and evaluating the body of knowledge and clinical practices and assisting in program planning and development.
- Assisting with the clinical supervision of SLPs which may including monitoring, coaching, and mentoring with respect to clinical performance.
- Coordinating clinical work schedules, caseloads and rotations.
- Maintaining a partial clinical caseload including SLP assessment, diagnosis, intervention, program planning, discharge planning and follow-up.
- Minimum of five years recent, relevant Speech-Language Pathology experience in a large complex environment required.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited, recognized University is required.
- Depending on the site/program, one or more CASLPM advanced competency certifications may be required (e.g., VFSS, tracheostomy, FEES). If an otherwise qualified candidate does not have the certifications required at the site, a plan of study and training through CASLPM will be initiated within 3 months of employment, in order to obtain one or more relevant certifications.
- Completion of, and ongoing participation in, relevant courses, workshops, etc. to address continuing education requirements; supervision in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and specialization required for designated clinical area.
- Training in these areas is considered an asset: cultural safety, equity, diversity, inclusion, ethics, health leadership, LEAN, project management, research methods, conflict resolution, coaching, interprofessional practice.
- Must be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM).
- Membership in other professional organizations is also required; for example, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the WRHA policy.

- General knowledge of the regulations and scope of practice documents that guide the practice of Speech-Language Pathology.

- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
- Must be able to attend meetings on-site and off-site.
