Job summary
An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the established medical education department based at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The successful post holder would be an enthusiastic and clinically current member of an expanding team covering clinical skills and simulation instruction for both under and post graduate medical education.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with our established and experienced Clinical Skills and Simulation Tutor and Clinical Skills and Simulation technician. They will have the necessary up to date skills and qualifications to instruct students and candidates in a variety of skills and simulation based teaching sessions using low to high fidelity manikins and clinical skills training equipment.
The successful candidate will also be expected to join the Resuscitation Services team and instruct on a number of intermediate and advanced Resuscitation courses, where the successful applicant holds the necessary qualifications. Maintenance of clinical skills will be supported through planned clinical time as well as through active membership of the emergency response team, attending cardiac arrests, emergency paediatric and adult calls on the acute hospital site is also a requirement of this varied and exciting role.
The role will be based around a 1/3 Resuscitation Officer and 2/3 time in the role as Clinical Skills and Simulation tutor offering the successful candidate a wide and varied role within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the provision, development and supervision of clinical skills and simulation within the Medical Education department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital
Facilitating research and development in skills and simulation education within medical education at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
To take a lead role and work as a simulation / clinical skills tutor to enhance and improve the clinical competency of multidisciplinary staff, ensuring that a high standard of clinical care is maintained.
To devise, provide and evaluate training and education programmes to support the development of skills, knowledge and attitude required by all grades of staff to ensure the delivery of competent, high quality patient care.
To plan, facilitate and deliver a range of clinical skills / simulation training sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate staff including but not limited to e.g. other Health Board staff and external agencies.
To support the educational tutors in the delivery of clinical skills / simulation training and associated assessment processes.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
