      ABOUT THE ROLE

      Intensive Care Paramedics (ICPs) are paramedic specialists who provide complex case management, clinical leadership and advanced clinical care in emergency and non-urgent care contexts. The role of the Clinical Support Clinician (CSC) is to apply these skills to the Control Centre environment, providing clinical support to Control Centre operations. The CSC will provide clinical support to call takers undertaking active Triple Zero (000) calls, provide comprehensive clinical oversight to state-wide pending incidents and make clinical recommendations to support dispatch decision making.

      The CSC will be required to accurately identify clinical risk from information recorded within the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and where appropriate assess patient condition and provide clinical support using telephony. The CSC will operate under their current scope of practice and in accordance with NSW Ambulance policies and procedures. Intensive Care Paramedics undertaking the CSC role will provide clinical leadership and support to other members of their clinical team.       Please Note: This is a temporary full-time position for a period of up to twelve (12) months with possible extension.

      ABOUT YOU

      To be successful in this role, you will require the following experience and attributes:

      • Applicants must hold all required certifications, registrations and qualifications including current credentialing as a Specialist Paramedic, with extensive experience as an Intensive Care Paramedic.
      • Previous use of the CAD system and sound knowledge of MPDS is desirable.
      • Comprehensive understanding of NSW Ambulance operations, the NSW Ambulance organisation and its Protocols, Pharmacology’s and Procedures as applied by Paramedics and Paramedic Specialists.Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in the use of windows-based computer applications and word-processing software packages.
      • Demonstrated highly developed communication, negotiation, consultation and collaboration skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders. The ability to work independently and as a team member within a critical, dynamic environment.
      • Ability to maintain logical thought processes and remain calm in stressful or complex situations and challenging circumstances.
      • Organisational skills and the ability to manage fluctuating workloads with frequently changing priorities.
      • Ability to understand, interpret and analyse complex information with proven conceptual thinking skills for effective problem solving and decision-making.
