Job summary
We are seeking applicants for the position of Healthcare Support Worker within the Community Paediatric Medical Service, covering areas such as Southampton, Hythe and New Milton.
The working week comprises of 1 day 8.30 -- 16.30 and 3 days 8.30 -- 13.30,totalling 22.5 hours a week.
The Community Paediatric Medical Service provides specialised care for children and young people with a variety of developmental needs, including physical and/or learning disabilities. This includes comprehensive medical assessments, investigations, diagnoses, treatments, and interventions tailored to individual needs.
While most services are provided in community clinics, children may also be seen in special schools and, on occasion, in hospital settings.
The role involves accurate use of the Electronic Patient Records System, completing various administrative tasks, and providing direct clinical support to patients and their families. Strong teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are essential. Training, supervision, and ongoing support will be provided as needed.
Main duties of the job
To assist in Community Paediatric Medical Service clinics where children of varying abilities and needs are assessed. To assist in assessments as requested by the Paediatrician. (training will be provided to carry out relevant assessments i.e. Schedule of Growing Skills).
To provide clinical support and administrative assistance as required to a range of medical and nursing staff in the Community Paediatric Medical Service.
The service also carries out assessments for Looked After Children and those requiring medicals where there are Safeguarding concerns.
The service is mainly delivered in community clinics, but children may also be seen in special schools and occasionally in a hospital setting.
The service works closely with other services to meet the needs of patients including GP's, Therapy Services, Education and Children's Social Care.
The service works to the highest possible standards by adhering to national and locally agreed guidelines and standards for various medical conditions to improve outcomes for children.
