      Job summary

      Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Teaching Fellow to work at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This post will commence in August 2024, on a fixed term basis for 12 months.

      Main duties of the job

      It is expected that 80% of the post holder's time will be given to their educational responsibilities - please refer to the attached Job Description for more details

      20% of the post holder's time should be used to ensure that clinical practice is kept up-to-date and to undertake a programme of continued professional development. The nature of this will be negotiated with the successful candidates. This is arranged to fit around the teaching responsibilities.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      The Trust is one of the main providers of undergraduate education working in association with the University of Birmingham. The post holder will be involved in the clinical teaching of medical students across all the modules for which the Trust takes students on placements.

      This post will offer excellent organisational and direct teaching experience at the undergraduate level along with the opportunity to work towards a qualification in Medical Education.

      It would be an ideal career opportunity for a doctor awaiting entry into a specialist training programme. The post will suit a Junior Doctor at a post Foundation Year 2 level and who has an interest in medical education.

      This post will provide direct teaching to students in all three years on clinical placement in the Trust. The post holder will also work with the Head and Deputy Heads of Academy to ensure that teaching activities and facilities in the Trust are in accordance with the "Learning and Development Agreement" with Health Education England West Midlands and with the curriculum requirements and learning outcomes from the University of Birmingham.

      The post holder will act as clinical support for the clinical examinations hosted by the Trust. They will work with the Head and Deputy Heads of Academy to audit, develop and improve the teaching programmes. It is expected that the post holder/s will undertake some training in medical education and perform some research/audit into medical education within the Trust.
