Job summary
This is an exciting and adventurous opportunity for a Clinical Therapist to join the newly formed Southern Gambling Service, based within Southampton Division at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.
This role will support the development of a brand-new treatment service, using a digital psychotherapeutic informed approach to treat people who experience gambling issues.
The service started to accept referrals from September 2022, initially covering the geographical area of Southampton, and then further expanding to provide cover across the South East footprint.
This post would likely suit applicants with previous experience in substance misuse or addiction however, this is not a prerequisite to apply. If you have a genuine interest in working in a digitally enabled way and are keen to support the development of a new treatment service which supports clinical research this could be the post for you.
The Clinical Therapist will report directly into the Clinical Co Lead Psychologist for the Service. Suitable applicants will need to demonstrate experience of both highly specialised clinical skills and the ability to supervise and clinically support colleagues within the team.
We are working to a flexible workforce model and will consider part time applicants if they meet the necessary skills required. There will be opportunity to work closely with other regional gambling teams and to evaluate current evidence base in relation to gambling and apply this in the proposed treatment model.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
