      The primary purpose of the Clinical Research Budget Analyst position is to develop, negotiate, and review all clinical trial budgets sponsored by private industry to facilitate accurate award setup.
      JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
      Budget Analysis (50%)
      Enters budget information in the clinical trials management system and estimates expected costs to be used to inform budget negotiation. Performs a cost analysis as needed for non-industry trials.
      Maintains a working knowledge of cost accounting and clinical trials management systems. Understands how these systems relate to budget development, negoatiation, and review.
      Communicates clearly and effectively with internal staff and customers especially as related to activation timelines, financial stewardship, and research billing compliance.
      Budget Review (40%)
      Performs comprehensive and independent analysis of clinical trial protocols and other study documents, including the budget, contract, informed consent document, pharmacy and lab manuals and any other relevant supporting documentation.
      Reviews negotiated budgets to ensure adherence to relevant internal and external policies and regulations, including a review of financial and cost language found in study documents.
      Highlight inconsistencies while remaining solutions-focused.
      Processes budget amendments, ensuring accurate financial impact assessment and successful negotiations with sponsors and clinical research organizations.
      Cross-Training and Collaboration (10%)
      Assist faculty, staff and others in interpreting internal and external research billing policies to meet relevant standards, policies and regulations.
      Facilitate an efficient and transparent budget approval.
      Effectively and proactively communicate with other central offices as needed to resolve issues quickly.

      Required:

      Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare, business or related field

      Preferred: Master’s degree in a healthcare, business or related field

      Required:

      Experience: None. May substitute required education with years of relevant experience on a one-to-one basis.

      Preferred: Two years of clinical research, business administration or accounting experience.
