      Job summary

      Due to a promotion within existing staff members, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist within the Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) Psychology Stream. The successful post holder will provide therapies to service users who have complex secondary mental health needs as part of a multi disciplinary team.

      You will be supported by the Clinical Psychology team and have opportunities to develop your skills in areas such as training, complex case discussions and service development. You will also have support from the wider SCMHT, which includes the Complex Emotional and Relational Needs Pathway (Previously personality disorder pathway), Occupational Therapy Team and Nursing streams.

      The service has good links with local clinical psychology programmes and and is supportive of research and development.

      Clinical and managerial supervision will be provided. The post holder will also have regular opportunities for CPD, developing their own clinical skills as appropriate.

      The successful applicant will join an experienced and established team and benefit from close support from the teams Clinical team manager. There are excellent opportunities for shared learning and continuing professional development.

      Applicants from less experienced candidates will be considered, and if successful at interview, they would be appointed at Band 7 whilst working towards demonstrating 8A competencies.

      Main duties of the job

      Job Summary/Purpose

      To provide high quality specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients referred to the Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team.

      To offer supervision and consultation on clients' psychological care to other clinicians, including visiting and trainee therapists, care coordinators, GPs and Psychiatrists

      The postholder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team for mental health services and, as such, will work within its co-ordinated framework.

      The postholder will work within the procedures, protocols and guidelines for the Service.

      The postholder will plan and organise their work schedule and tasks, having managerial and clinical supervision as the role demands.

      The successful applicant will join an experienced team and benefit from close support from the teams Clinical team manager. There are excellent opportunities for shared learning and continuing professional development.
