An application for permanent labor certification for the position described below will be filed by Norfolk Southern Corporation with the U.S. Department of Labor.Job Title: Cloud FinOps Engineer
Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking a Cloud FinOps Engineer based in Atlanta, Georgia. This position will be responsible for optimizing and managing cloud spending and ensuring that the company’s cloud-based financial applications are cost-efficient, scalable, and secure. This position will work with a dynamic team of developers, architects, and business stakeholders. The individual in this position may telecommute from within 50 miles of the Atlanta metropolitan area in alignment with Norfolk Southern’s office/remote - hybrid work policy when not required in the office.Job Duties:
• Develop and implement cloud cost optimization strategies to reduce cloud spending without sacrificing performance or security.
• Monitor and analyze cloud usage, identify cost drivers and usage patterns, and implement cost-saving measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud architecture and infrastructure that is cost-effective, scalable, and secure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot the cloud infrastructure and applications to ensure high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
• Develop and implement automation scripts for development and maintenance tasks.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide visibility into cloud costs and usage.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends, and suggest improvements and new features.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related, relevant field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a cloud financial operations role, with a focus on cost optimization and management. This experience must include at least two (2) years of experience:
o Utilizing data analysis and reporting tools;
o Developing Cost Analysis Practices such as show-back or bill-back;
o Implementing cost anomaly reporting systems;
o Implementing environment right-sizing tools and reporting; and
o Implementing resource tagging policies for an organization.
• Demonstrated knowledge of:
o Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including cloud billing and pricing models; and
o DevOps tools and processes, such as CI/CD, automated testing and deployment.
• Demonstrated ability to:
o Identify cost drivers and suggest cost-saving measures;
o Utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams; and
o Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work weekends and on-call as necessary.
