Consulting with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify business requirements and opportunities and then build solution designs, guiding them through the full engineering product lifecycle
Cultivating and nurturing relationships through confident, engaging, and professional high-impact interactions.
Leading technical discussions with collaborators, internal, external, and third party across various levels of technical expertise, including Senior Management and other Subject Matter Experts.
Designing and integrating IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions across Azure, Google Cloud Platform and on-premises platforms.
Writing and contributing to platform solutions design, architectural patterns, blueprints, standards, policies, designs and other such architectural artefacts.
Optimising cloud infrastructure performance for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, utilising FinOps processes.
Utilising automation tools for streamlining processes.
Utilising visibility/observability solutions. e.g., Platform Monitoring, User Experience Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring, Application Resource Monitoring,
Collaborating in a digitally led, inclusive, agile and creative work environment.
Conducting Proofs of Concept (PoCs) to gain a deeper understanding of products, and to assist in their design and review
Provide education and mentorship covering multiple technical topics to support different teams on those topics, and drive upskilling
Significant experience working as a Solution Architect, with hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.
In-depth experience in designing and integrating IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions across Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with container environments and container orchestration tools. E.g., Docker, Kubernetes (GKE, AKS, OpenShift)
Proficiency in Data Centre virtualization platforms, Compute, SAN, Storage, Data Protection and Virtualization.
A good understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, Direct Connect/Expressroute, VPNs, subnets, firewalls and cloud native security, and load balancers.
Confirmed experience in delivering high-quality scalable architecture solutions, encompassing critical aspects such as backups, high availability, and disaster recovery.
Knowledge and/or experience with DevOps practices. DevOps methodologies, DevOps tools, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering.
Hands-on experience with agile architecture at scale at all levels
Deploying and running Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Ansible, Go, Python, PowerShell, GitOps, Policy as Code, ARM.
Managing operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
Certified in a cloud platform such as Azure and Google Cloud Platform

LOCATION(S): London, Manchester, Halifax or Leeds
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: At least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.
About this opportunity
The Cloud Platform team is embarking on a journey to develop the next-generation technical Cloud and on-premises platform for Lloyds Banking Group, which will be central to one of the UK's largest financial service transformations.
We are looking for an experienced and innovative Cloud Architect to play a pivotal role in defining the technical direction of our platform. The candidate will collaborate with Platform Architects, Enterprise Architects, Cloud Product Owners, and platform engineering teams. Responsibilities include architecting complex systems and resolving challenging issues to support Lloyds Banking Group's multi-cloud adoption strategy.
