      Description

      Position Summary

      Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Creates, documents, develops, and implements procedures required to assemble, test, process, and manufacture the products of the company. This position reports to the site Plant Manager.

      Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

      • Collaborating with configuration control and design engineering regarding product tooling and design to

      ensure effectual production methods.

      • Estimating staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational

      decisions.

      • Working closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical

      training for employees.

      • Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and

      concepts in accordance with the R&D and quality assurance functions.

      • Providing engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.

      • Coordinating work with tool room personnel, assigned technicians, and outside vendors.

      • Supporting company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and good manufacturing practices.

      • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

      • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

      • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and

      equipment layout.

      • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process

      capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

      • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material

      costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.

      • Perform weekly safety and maintenance checks, and document; Aware at all times of correct orientation of product being placed in machinery

      • Monitor and change cutting tools or inserts as needed; Runs production when necessary

      • Enter commands and store programs in computer memory to build and maintain source files

      • Adjust feed rates and speeds, utilizing knowledge of CNC machine operation

      • Read job traveller and obtain correct product type and quantity to run

      • Inform Plant Manager and Quality Inspector of any issues with operation or quality

      • Always wear proper PPE and conform to all safety rules and regulations

      • Perform all and any other duties as directed or required.

      Qualifications


      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and extensive knowledge of lean systems and

      philosophies

      • Experience in high volume metal forming manufacturing process engineering, preferred

      • CNC Machining Experience with 3 and 4 axis milling; knowledge to set-up and operate CNC/HAAS machines

      • AutoCAD & Solid works experience, Mastercam experience a plus.

      • Experience in automation, preferred, PLC/Servo systems experience a plus

      • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts & Must be a good communicator with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

      • Able to foresee changes relevant to area of responsibility

      • Able to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations of CNC machining environment

      • Organize machining center to meet production objectives for optimum cost, quality, speed, throughput, and on time customer deliveries

      • Able to use and read precise measuring tools, to read prints and able to lift minimal of 50 lbs periodically

      Educational & Certification

      • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.

      • Equivalent work experience in a metal working industry will be considered.

      • Minimum 5-10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a metal working industry.

      • Lean Manufacturing experience a plus.

      • 7-10 years CNC experience
      • MUST have vertical machining center experience
      • Project management skills and experience

      Software Skills

      • Mastercam and SolidWorks knowledge
