      The Job

      We have multiple CNN TV Research and CNN UX Research internship opportunities available. By applying to this posting, you will be considered for internship opportunities within this area. These internships will be located in the Atlanta area. The selected interns will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern managers in office schedule.

      Internships in this area may focus on Research, Analytics and Strategy across film, television, and streaming platforms. This could include, but is not limited to:

      • CNN UX Research

      • CNN TV Research

      CNN UX Research

      The CNN UX Research team performs both quantity and quality consumer research to inform CNN, Product, Tech, and Design initiatives as well as other areas of the CNN business including TV, Brand, and Multiplatform. This internship role will be focused on continuing the development of our UX Research Center of Excellence (CoE). Areas of focus will include creating recruitment strategies and activities for our CNN Community consumer panel and developing standardized documentation (e.g., templates, scripts) to save time and enable consistent application across the team. We are looking for individuals with interest in research best practices and processes with a focus on enabling efficiencies in research planning and execution along with research participant communication and engagement.

      The Daily

      • The CNN Digital UX Research Intern will work on research operations initiatives in support of the UX Research Center of Excellence and CNN Digital's recently established consumer insights panel, the CNN Community.

      • Develop standardized qualitative and/or quantitative user research best practice documentation (e.g., templates, scripts, consent forms) to save time and enable consistent application across the team.

      • Generate new ways of sharing insights and defining and socializing the value of UX research throughout the organization.

      • Partner with UX managers, product leads, and other stakeholders on planning projects including participant recruitment and scheduling across studies.

      • Explore insights about CNN Community members through a variety of methods whether it be surveys, interviews, data analysis, usability studies, diary studies, and ethnographic observation, or a new method.

      The Essentials

      • 2 or more years of college study in UX research, media research or other user experience design. Prior internship work as a UX researcher or research analyst preferred.

      • Must be comfortable in a fast-moving collaborative organization

      • Background in Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Psychology or Social Sciences preferred.

      • Proficient in Excel and willing to learn usability study software, and/or statistical research software.

      • Passionate about research methodologies and processes in general.

      • Must be actively enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)

      • Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older)

      • Must be in academic good standing (2.8 or above GPA)

      • Must have the legal right to work in the United States. U.S. International students must hold an F1 Visa to be considered.

      CNN TV Research

      CNN TV Research and Analytics team provides data analysis and insights on the TV Media landscape and CNN's performance across various programming. As a part of the CNN TV Research team, the intern will develop a deep understanding of the television landscape and media research, and how they intersect. They will also help provide strategic and tactical insights to the organization on TV analytics, media research and consumer insights.

      The Daily

      • Develop a deep understanding of the tv landscape and media research, and how they intersect.

      • Monitor as run program schedules for Nielson program submission.

      • Aid Research Analyst in production of daily and regular reporting needs for the CNN brand as well as competitive networks.

      • Learn how to extract and analyze industry data using Nielson research software applications (Ex: Nielsen NPower, Arianna, Star Media, etc.).

      • Assist team with ongoing projects, data visualizations, and client presentations (in Excel, PowerPoint).

      The Essentials

      • Candidate should be passionate about news, self-motivated, able to multitask, have a good attitude, and be able to function well in fast-paced, high volume environment.

      • Intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred

      • Knowledge in/experience with PivotTables and essential Excel analysis formulas (including IF, VLOOKUP, COUNT, SUMIF) to increase interactivity and automating of spreadsheets

      • Understanding of Excel formatting including conditional cell & number formatting

      • Experience in effectively & clearly presenting analytical findings to relevant stakeholders

      • Independent self-starter with ability to master new software (some one-on-one training on Nielsen software will be provided by supervisor/team)

      • Curiosity to explore data, driven to understand the "why", and a passion to draw connections

      • Solid math skills and must be comfortable with numbers and data

      • Strong written and verbal communication skills

      • Solid problem-solving skills, and astute attention to detail

      • Passionate about research methodologies and processes in general

      • The duration of the program is 10 weeks dependent on the student’s availability based on semester schedule

        • Program dates:

          • Start Date: October 2nd

          • End Date: December 15th

      • Interns will be expected to work 16-24 hours per week in a hybrid capacity.

      • Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided.

      • Interviewing will take place from August through mid-September. A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

      In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The rate listed is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns, $25 per hour USD for graduate level interns.
