      ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
      Pilot, Chief


      POSITION SUMMARY

      This position is responsible to the Chief Pilot for the operation and maintenance of Authority aircraft and hangar.


      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Serves as Pilot-in-Command on the TRA airplane when directed by the Chief Pilot.


      2. Responsible for pre-flight and post-flight inspections of the Authority's aircraft.


      3. Responsible for maintaining the Authority's aircraft including inspection and maintenance records, shop equipment, tools, and spare parts inventory. * A detailed description of these duties is available in the Aircraft Operations Manual.


      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
      This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

      FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
      None

      QUALIFICATIONS

      EDUCATION

      High school diploma or GED.

      EXPERIENCE

      Five hundred hours flying time in powered aircraft, including 500 hours of Pilot-in-Command time, with 200 hours of multi-engine flying time.

      CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

      Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings required. Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate. Must acquire an FAA Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate within 12 months of employment.

      KNOWLEDGE

      Must possess knowledge of aircraft to operate, inspect and perform maintenance.


      SKILLS AND ABILITIES

      The highest degree of concentration is required during flight preparation and actual flight with the ability to respond quickly even after enduring long waiting periods. Promptness and courtesy are essential, especially when in contact with public officials, TRA Directors and Management. Mathematical abilities are needed to determine aircraft performance and navigational procedures.

      GUIDANCE RECEIVED
      Guided by TRA Mission and Goals. Makes decisions with guidance provided by TRA mission, policies, and goals. Sets related goals, objectives, and priorities for at least one Department and gain executive approval.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS
      This position requires passing a physical and physical ability assessment specific to this position. Requires the physical agility to climb into the aircraft crew seating, and to open and close all normal and emergency entry and exit provisions on the aircraft.

      WORKING CONDITIONS
      Working conditions during flight may be somewhat uncomfortable and require long periods of waiting before resuming flight and tolerance to noise. Subject to irregular hours and inclement weather.

      TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
      Hand and power tools used to repair and perform inspections on TRA's aircraft. Must provide hand tools required for maintenance and repair of the Authority's aircraft. This includes, but is not limited to a toolbox, common, basic hand tools, inspection mirrors, and flashlights. The Authority shall provide any required specialty tools required during the course of aircraft maintenance or repair.
