      BARRINGTON COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 220

      Position Title: Boys Soccer Coach (Middle School)

      Reports To:

      Middle School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director

      Supervises N/A

      Season:

      Fall

      Position Summary

      The coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the athletic team, including developing practice plans, strategizing for games, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting a positive team culture. The coach ensures that the program aligns with the school’s values and goals, fostering both athletic excellence and personal growth among student-athletes.

      Qualifications:

      • Licensed as a certified teacher or certified through an IESA approved coaches education program

      • Completed mandated concussion training

      • Previous experience preferred, but not required

      • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

      • Strong work ethic and organizational skills

      • Ability to maintain confidentiality

      • Ability to work positively and productively with adults and student participants

      Expectations:

      1. Follow and enforce all regulations, policies, philosophies, and administrative directives as set by the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA), Board of Education Policies, and District 220 Policies.

      2. Assists in developing team and individual player goals and maintains high expectations for both, including but

      not limited to: attend school, passing grades, attend practice and contests, exhibit good sporting behavior and

      citizenship. The program is an extension of the classroom.

      3. Plans in advance and prepares for each contest in an e?ort to put the team in the best possible position to be

      successful.

      4. Attend all practices and games, including transportation to and from, unless ill or with advanced notification of the AD.

      5. Complete any district reports on conduct or injuries that occur under their supervision.

      6. Effectively maintains equipment and uniforms. Communicates with the AD of any needed supplies, equipment,

      and/or uniforms.

      7. Help manage district athletic facilities including cleanliness of locker rooms, gym and fields after each practice

      and game, and maintenance to ensure the well-being of students, families and sta?.

      8. Continue to grow as a coach in such ways as participating in coaching clinics, taking coaching related courses, or staying current with modern sport specific trends..

      9. Seeks to attain and maintain good public relations with students, parents, officials, opposing coaches, and sta?.

      10. Perform other duties as assigned.


      Expected Student Contact Hours Beyond Teaching Contract:

      Generally practice M-F for at least 8 weeks (unless a game is scheduled)
