What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Assign codes to ER and Outpatient ancillary medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT codes
- Abstract patient accounts with assigned codes and finalize abstracts in Cerner
- Review scripts for meeting Medical Necessity in the Outpatient ancillary area
- Adhere to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and regulations of applicable agencies and accrediting bodies
- Ensure compliance with department Coding Policy, Coding Guidelines, and Coding Clinic
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma and completion of a medical coding certificate program or 2-year HIM program
- RHIA or RHIT, or CCS or CPC required within 2 years of hire
- Knowledge of specific coding guidelines and Coding Clinic guidelines
- Ability to score a minimum of 75% on coding test during the interview process
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 0-2 years of experience as a medical coder
