What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Thoroughly review and analyze medical records to identify all diagnoses and procedures affecting the current admission
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to translate medical documentation into accurate codes
- Adhere to Official ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 Coding Guidelines for proper coding practices
- Utilize available resources and coding software to assist in the coding and reimbursement process
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School education; Associate degree preferred
- Minimum of 7+ years of inpatient coding experience in a tertiary care hospital
- Certification in CC3 – IP or CCS-P, CCS, CPC-H, or CPC required for outpatient coding
- Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical coding standards
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with 3M encoder software and coding tools
- Participation in continuing education programs related to coding and healthcare compliance
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations regarding healthcare reimbursement
