      Overview

      This position is designated as "remote". However, the new hire will need to come for onboarding and hospital orientation in person.


      Responsibilities

      Codes outpatient records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems. Assures proper coding and charge entry for all coded records. Inputs coding and patient information in the appropriate computer system(s) for billing and abstracting purposes and identifies and corrects information discrepancies.


      Qualifications

      Education: - High School graduate or equivalent

      Licensure/Certification/Registration:

      - RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, or CPC-H is required

      Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:

      - Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

      - Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology required.

      - Minimum 6 months previous experience with acute care hospital outpatient coding required.
