What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and code clinical documentation using CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers for outpatient procedures
- Ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations and provider documentation guidelines
- Maintain performance standards for accurate and timely submission of charges and coding
- Attend meetings via conference call and Webex for updates and training
- Educate providers and orient new coders on coding assignments and documentation requirements
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years of experience in hospital or professional services coding using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
- Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA, such as CPC, RHIA, RHIT, or CCS
- In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and Federal and CMS guidelines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Completion of a coding course through an accredited college or university
- Experience in OBGYN, UroGyn, Primary Care, Psych, and behavioral health coding
- Familiarity with Medicare AWV, OB Global package billing, and Telehealth
- Experience with EPIC EMR and encoder systems
- Prior experience in an academic setting with knowledge of CMS regulations
