      Senior Cognos Developer

      Description


      Location: Halifax, CA (Remote)

      We are seeking an experienced Senior Cognos Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-level reporting and business intelligence solutions using IBM Cognos Analytics. You will work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective reporting solutions.

      Job Responsibilities include:
      Design, develop, and maintain Cognos Analytics reports, dashboards, and models.
      Optimize performance and scalability of Cognos applications.
      Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and enhance reporting capabilities.
      Develop complex data models and frameworks to support analytical needs.
      Provide technical expertise in data visualization and report-building best practices.
      Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across all reporting solutions.
      Troubleshoot and resolve Cognos-related issues, ensuring system reliability.
      Maintain documentation for development processes, configurations, and enhancements.
      Participate in requirement gathering sessions.
      As part of unit and regression testing, validate reports and provide a detailed analysis of data.
      Mentoring junior developers regarding best practices and technology stacks used to build the application.
      Work in collaborative environments that follow agile project management methodologies like XP and Scrum.
      Work closely with BI and EDW system administrators for code migrations and production support.
      Debug data quality issues by analyzing the upstream sources and provide guidance on resolutions.
      Closely work with DBAs to fix performance bottlenecks.

      Required Skills:
      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
      7+ years of experience in Cognos development.
      Proficiency in Cognos Analytics, including Framework Manager, Report Studio, Dashboarding, and Transformer.
      Strong SQL skills for querying and data manipulation.
      Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
      Ability to solve problems and operate with a sense of ownership of results.
      Strong written and verbal communication skills.
      Experience with performance tuning.
      Working experience in Teradata, Oracle including performance tuning and debugging performance bottlenecks.
      Conceptual understanding of logical and physical data model is a must, and a working experience is a plus.
      Ability to work in a 24 x 7 setting as either on-call or escalation contact.
      Strong Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
