      This position is a job family. There are two levels to the position.

      Level I

      BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
      Responsible for the proper collection of delinquent loan accounts while evaluating each member’s situation and offering alternatives. Must demonstrate the ability to collect on delinquent loans.
      TYPICAL DUTIES
      Analyzes delinquent loans to determine best approach to collect payment and bring loan current.
      Responsible for working assigned queue in a timely manner.
      Contacts members, identifies problems and makes arrangements to solution the delinquent loan. Contacts members to determine the reason for delinquency.
      Provides financial counseling to members in efforts to limit credit union losses.
      Recognize and recommend credit union loans and related products/services to improve member’s financial position.
      Places and maintains lockouts on accounts due to delinquent loans.
      Skip traces accounts to help locate members and/or collateral.
      Prepares and recommends uncollectible loans for collateral inspection, repossession, demand, or charge off.
      Inputs loan applications and referrals for approval/denial.
      Respond to telephone inquiries related to delinquent loans, unusual situations, problem accounts and posting of payments
      Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
      Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union

      AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

      Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

      Rotating schedule to meet membership and departmental needs

      Level II

      Requirements

      CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
      Working knowledge of the Texas Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act
      General knowledge of bankruptcy laws and repossession laws.
      Knowledge of the loan and collection policies/procedures of all credit union loans.
      Knowledge of collection software programs and tools necessary to perform daily duties.
      Knowledge of PC, PC applications, 10-key.
      Good oral and written communication skills.
      Ability to exercise good judgment and display patience/understanding with members regarding their financial difficulties.
      Ability to work with difficult, irate, and problem members.
      Ability to work well under pressure and be well organized to effectively complete daily work.
      Ability to create new efficient procedures to improve productivity and reduce losses to the Credit Union.
      Displays a positive attitude, is coachable, competitive, and a team player.
      High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years collection experience or equivalent job related duties.
      Requires sitting the majority of the day, lifting up to 10 pounds and bending occasionally, twisting, reaching above and below shoulder level frequently
      This position requires the employee to work from home but may require onsite onboarding and training.
      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
