Current Minnesota Dental Assistant license and Dental Assisting National Board Exam (DANB) certification; and
Associate or higher degree in Dental Assisting; and
One academic year of teaching/tutoring experience in Dental Assisting at the high school level or above; or
An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Knowledge of dental equipment and ability to troubleshoot problems and make minor repairs.
Ability to communicate effectively with vendors for ordering parts and scheduling service needs
Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative to do a job without regular help and advice from others.
Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously; create clear and attainable project objectives; build project requirements; oversee the cost, time, and scope of projects; manage project constraints; and communicate progress and end results.
Knowledge of taking diagnostic radiographs and utilization of digital scans.
Knowledge of taking impressions and use and manipulation of dental materials.
Knowledge of sterilization/infection control protocols to ensure proper sterilization for the safety of students, faculty, staff, and dental clinic patients.
Strong verbal communication skills sufficient to participate in discussions and communicate technical ideas and procedures to technical and non-technical staff and managers and present recommendations and reports to senior managers.

Job Description
This position exists to serve the students and instructors of the Dental Programs. Under limited supervision, the Lab Assistant will assist the Dental Program instructors and students in the lab by demonstrating techniques and will carry out prescribed instructional activities for students under the direction of dental instructors. The Lab Assistant will oversee the security of the lab/clinic so that equipment and materials are used properly and kept safe. The Lab Assistant will also keep the clinic and lab stocked with supplies and will maintain an inventory of all supplies, equipment, and products. They will assist the students with scheduling patients. The Lab Assistant will serve as the infection control officer, radiation officer, and the OSHA/safety officer for the dental programs.
Salary Range:
$21.57-30.13/hour, $45,038-62,911 annually
