      Job Description:

      Under the direction of more qualified personnel, performs a variety of tasks associated with testing track or wheeled combat vehicles to include operating and maintaining vehicles, weapons, systems, and communication equipment while supporting firing programs and test missions, on and off test courses and firing ranges. Tasks may be manual and/or mechanical in nature and support testing combat vehicle systems, weapons, ammunition, armor, and related equipment. Under the direction of more qualified personnel, performs operator level Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) as well as any other operator level maintenance in accordance with appropriate/approved test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations. Under the direction of more qualified personnel and in accordance with operator level manuals troubleshoots, diagnoses, and documents power plants, auxiliary power units, engines, transmissions, suspension components, electrical/electronic systems and components, communications equipment, basic fire control systems, turret traversing mechanisms, hydraulic or pneumatic systems, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, gas particulate systems and any like or related items in accordance with test objectives. Under the direction of more qualified personnel, performs or assists with unit level maintenance in accordance with appropriate/approved test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations. Under the direction of more qualified personnel, installs and operates sensitive data collection instrumentation, vehicle system training simulators/devices, and/or maintains equipment necessary to collect, process, store or obtain test related data in accordance with appropriate test plans, manuals, policies, and regulations. Effectively operates combat vehicle computers, software, and other related technology. Identifies, documents, and communicates test related and/or abnormal conditions in an appropriate format and timely manner. Provides on-the-job training, technical advice and assistance to various government agencies and peers as required. Under the direction of more qualified personnel, develops, analyzes and provides technical input as required for documentation and training. Works, coordinates, and collaborates with others in a professional manner to accomplish testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of combat vehicles and equipment. Actively participates to ensure personal safety, team safety, visitor safety, and end user safety in accordance with policy, standard operating procedures, and locally identified hazard mitigation requirements.

      Qualifications:
      3 yrs. applicable experience or have completed formal training relevant to operating, maintaining, and/or testing combat vehicles and associated relevant weapon components or systems. At least 1 of the 3 yrs. of experience must be in a test and evaluation range, laboratory, or military environment.
      1) Must possess an Ammunition Certification Level I within one year of employment.
      2) Must possess a valid Class B CDL within 6 months of employment.
      Essential Functions Form:
      UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
      Sets up, transports, and operates firing weapons, ranging from 22 caliber to 8” weapons. The ability to squat, crawl, kneel and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 25%). The ability to bend, stoop, and crouch is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 75%).
      DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
      Work environment may be inside or outside depending on the task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold extreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 25%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts. Work may require being assigned to shift work (up to 20%).
      EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
      Operates equipment ranging from 1-100 tons with a variety of different axle configurations and tow loads designed for these vehicles. Also operates forklifts and other material handling equipment. Combat Tracked vehicles are tested. Fires small and medium caliber weapons and/or large caliber weapons. The requirements include the ability to work on unprotected heights and be around moving machinery/equipment. Must have the ability to operate computer systems necessary to support the tests and time card entries.
      CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
      Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
      OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
      Must possess a valid CDL license within 6 months employment. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. Required to take a hearing test and complete blood count. If working with depleted uranium, an Urinebioassay and Invivo lung scan may also be required. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. May be subject to exposure to noise, radiation, extreme temperature changes, vibration, lead, dusts, solvents, and fuels such as diesel, gasoline, and JP8 (jet fuel). Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required.
