      RoadSafetyBC is the lead provincial agency for road safety and is responsible for setting strategic direction and ensuring a provincial approach to road safety throughout British Columbia. RoadSafetyBC regulates drivers and operates a number of programs to help ensure the safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles in B.C.

      Reporting to the Communication Officer, the Senior Writer develops and maintains collaborative relationships and provides writing services to facilitate the accurate and timely communication of ministry information to internal and external audiences through a wide variety of media.

      You are a communications professional with the collaborative skills and the initiative required to succeed in this busy, high-profile environment.

      Job Requirements:

      • Diploma or completion of formal course work in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
      • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
      • Experience working in the field of communications for a large organization.
      • Experience producing written communications (e.g., memos, articles web content, etc.) using communications fundamentals (including logic, accessible and plain language, customer-centric orientation, Canadian Press style, tone, grammar, spelling, and proofreading).

      Preference may be given to applicants that have:

      • A Degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business or other related field.
      • 2 or more years experience writing, editing and proofreading.

      About this Position:
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
      Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
