      We are looking for multiple operator trainees for one of the largest petroleum refineries in the United States Rocky Mountain region. If you have a strong safety mindset, are curious with a desire to learn and grow, and enjoy working in a team environment, we are looking for you! No experience necessary, we will train you from the ground up and are committed to your development and success.

      In this role at our Commerce City refinery (Denver Metro Area), where we produce 100,000 barrels-per-day, you will learn the operating responsibilities and layout within a specified unit of our refinery. You will be responsible for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of processes to optimize production in an environmentally responsible manner.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

      • A valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Suncor

      • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting as well as use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers

      • Ability to perform in a variety of different environments as well as within confined spaces in a dynamic, indoor and outdoor (all-weather) industrial facility

      Responsibilities:

      • Operate refinery equipment in a safe, efficient manner, according to established refinery practices, procedures, and operating guidelines

      • Contribute positively to team culture, with a focus on the safety of people and the environment

      • Maintain process equipment through the application of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting

      • Oversee operations and equipment for deviations

      • Monitor and adjust equipment and process variables to maintain safe and environmentally sound operations and ensure product quality

      • You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.

      • The shift schedule is a rotating 12-hour shift, including holidays, weekends (MDOPY), and overtime as needed

      • This role is safety sensitive

      • In alignment with Suncor’s value of Safety Above All Else, we conduct pre-employment drug testing, employment verification, education verification, background checks, and other pre-employment assessments as a condition of employment

      Hourly Rate and Compensation Details:

      • This is a union represented position under USW 12-477

      • $33.52 / hour to start. Once qualified in the first area, the rate increases to $47.45 / hour (obtainable in approximately 3 to 5 months)
