- Manage import legal and compliance functions, including valuation, classification, country of origin and other import regulatory requirements in the US.
- Support global Omron projects and reporting in the above import law and compliance functions.
- Support training and response strategies by Omron Companies relating to tariff risk mitigation.
- Support legal and compliance work for the Omron Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and other trade benefit programs.
- Manage compliance with forced labor legal requirements.
- Manage denied parties screening, as requested.
- Manage drafting, review, advice on, negotiation and conclusion of contracts for Omron Companies, including sales, pricing, confidentiality, consulting, service and other agreements.
- Support Omron Companies regarding commercial claims and litigation as requested.
- A US J.D., LLM or equivalent degree is required. Graduation from a top US law school is a plus.
- Member of the Illinois bar in good standing is highly preferred.
- 5-7+ years of professional experience as an attorney in a major law firm or corporation focused on import and related matters as well as experience with contracts and commercial matters (including M&A).
- Fully fluent in English and proficiency in other languages such as Spanish a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker and DocuSign a plus.
- Professional level of written and verbal communication skills; critical thinking and research skills.
- Excellent and deep experience in drafting, commenting on, negotiating and closing various commercial agreements. M&A experience a definite plus.
- Interest and skill in technology generally, with knowledge of or experience with robots, sensors, controllers, safety services (OSHA compliant), software and related products and services (a plus).
- Ability to handle multiple requests under tight deadlines
- Experience with and high skill in working and communicating in an international work environment
- Strong self-sufficiency and able to work independently, as well as in team settings
- Demonstrated curiosity in learning new subject matter and skills and in receiving feedback well
- Exceptional attention to detail, and follow-up skills

Omron Management Center of America is hiring for Commercial and Trade Counsel in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
This position will provide support on import law and compliance along with contracts and commercial matters for Omron Companies (Omron Companies) in the Americas, including its businesses in automation, robotics, electronics and medical devices . This position reports to the General Counsel.

The pay Range for this role is $165,000-$180,000, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus program. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
