- Assists in establishing departmental lending policies and operating procedures that are consistent with overall bank policies and operating objectives.
- Develops and maintains an interest rate structure that harmonizes with overall bank management policies, is competitive and affords the bank maximum profitability.
- Prepares lending activity reports for bank management and the executive committee of the board of directors. Provides general counsel with respect to lending operations.
- Interviews applicants: collects and analyzes financial and related data to establish creditworthiness; establishes and negotiates, when necessary, credit terms and continually monitors customers’ creditworthiness and repayment activities. Approves loans within established loan authority.
- Develops and manages large and/or complex commercial loan accounts.
- Reviews loan documentation prior to closing for completeness and acceptance by the applicant.
- Ensures timely loan closing and funding activities.
- Manage loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections, and portfolio monitoring.
- Works with the Senior Commercial Lender and Chief Credit Risk Officer in commercial loan workouts and foreclosures.
- Counsels’ customers, where possible, regarding business management and financial matters.
- Assists in the department’s business development activities, including the monitoring of the officer call program. Personally, calls on customers and prospects.
- Keeps abreast of local and national economic, financial, political, and legislative events and climates that could have an impact on commercial lending activities.
- Provides detailed information for preparing the department budget, including projected loan volume, rate of return and expenditures.
- Refers business to other bank areas (cash management, mortgage, consumer, retail, and investment.)
- Maintains professional and community relations to increase the Bank’s visibility and new business opportunities, and to further personal development.
- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, or related area.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively increasing responsible commercial lending experience.
- Strong, well-developed interpersonal skills in order to maximize business contacts and develop a working relationship with potential and current commercial loan customers.
- High level of analytical skills to conduct initial commercial loan analyses and monitor the loan’s progress in consideration of, including, but not limited to, market trends, credit/interest rates, and economic conditions.
- Ability to meet with current and potential customers and attend community and networking events during and outside of traditional business hours.
- Valid driver’s license with sound driving record and personal transportation available.

In addition to being responsible for completing an accurate CTR for each cash transaction in excess of $10,000, Customer Service Representative, Lenders, and Safe Deposit Attendants are responsible for properly identifying all new bank customers in accordance with the bank’s Customer Identification Program.
