      COMMERCIAL LOAN OFFICER

      The Ohio Department of Development, Strategic Investment Division is looking for a Commercial Loan Officer to help expand and grow Ohio’s business economy. Assist with the administration of the Division’s financial incentive loan programs conducting due diligence, monitoring performance, and negotiating loan modifications. The Commercial Loan Officer position will also operate Ohio’s Regional 166 Direct loan program, promoting business development and expansion through use of low interest loans, and will assist with the All Ohio Future Fund Program.

      Description:

      Regional 166 Loan Program: Coordinates the approvals of the proposed loans by Development leadership and by the State Controlling Board; serves as Development’s liaison to the regional 166 agencies partners; establishes and implements processes and procedures to ensure data integrity of the loans in Development’s database; assists with the annual performance report process relating to the Regional Program; provides strategic recommendations to Development’s leadership on the future of the program; travels to and from work sites around Ohio as assigned.

      Assists with the administration of loan programs (e.g., primarily Direct166, IOLF, R&D loans) for the Strategic Investment Division: Reviews company financial information and conducts due diligence on the financial incentives; works with Development legal staff and the company to bring loans to closing within the anticipated timeframe; leads organization calls for assigned loans; uploads relevant loan documents to the database; initiates prospective actions in case of underperformance; works on pay requests to disburse loan proceeds in a timely manner; negotiates loan modifications and workout agreements; assists in other areas of the Strategic Investments Division as needed.

      1. Working knowledge of business lending programs and commercial lending required.
      2. Substantial experience in business credit and debt service analysis required.
      3. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting OR Bachelor’s Degree in another area + previous work experience in finance, accounting or commercial lending.
      4. Economic development/business development experience helpful.
      5. Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills as well as analytical & prioritization skills.
      6. Proficiency in using MS Office.
