Aviva are currently seeking a Commercial Property & Casualty Assistant Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a growing team, the role is based across the UK, and you will benefit from Aviva’s smart working arrangements, with a mix of home and office working.

As an Underwriter or Assistant Underwriter (depending on experience), you’ll provide an outstanding service to our customers and brokers. You’ll drive new business and professional relationships, directly contributing to the underwriting profit and loss, trading, and service delivery goals.

Although this role is based across the UK, we would need you to get in to one of our offices at least 50% of your working week.

A bit about the job:

This role could be ideal for you if you’re looking to start or develop your career in the insurance industry. We are looking for people who want to be part of a dynamic team with a track record of building relationships in the market and winning new business. Candidates welcome who are early into their career in insurance and looking to take the next steps in expanding their skill sets within underwriting.

We also offer support in studying for relevant CII qualifications.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Underwriting experience is essential

• Strong communication and negotiation skills; with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills and ability to manage own workload and work to deadlines

• Demonstrate desire to build knowledge and gain experience in the insurance industry

• Ability to follow processes and procedures and work within set Underwriting Licence frameworks.

• Starting salary between £21,700 and £35,100 (depending on skills, experience, and qualifications)

• Bonus opportunity - 6% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
