      As part of the Office of Communications, you are at the center of those efforts. We are looking for a Communications and Brand Specialist who can help us visually tell the stories of our impact, inspire pride in our community and help recruit the next generation of lawyers and leaders. Every member of our team plays a key role, and the Communications Specialist supports both internal and external communications through the production of physical and digital content, including materials for prospective students, electronic newsletters, alumni event materials, and fundraising solicitations.

      The Communications Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Brand Management, Strategic Assets, and Production and works in close collaboration with communications colleagues including a close-knit team of seasoned professionals in social media, media relations, writing, and multimedia. We believe in the work we do, and the people on our team. The Communications Specialist also works with colleagues across the Law School and external partners such as designers, photographers, and print vendors.

      Work Performed

      • Manage the production of print and digital projects, including writing, editing, coordinating graphic design, and the physical production of printed brochures and mailings
      • Assist in development and maintaining editorial calendars and project management systems to support the work of the department.
      • Curate, design, assemble, edit, and distribute electronic newsletters, including the Duke Law Daily and monthly E-news to alumni and friends of the school
      • Monitor and maintain content on the Law School’s digital screens
      • Assist in managing website content audit process to ensure pages are kept up to date
      • Manage digital assets, including cataloging incoming photos and managing the image tagging system.

      Required Education

      Work requires communication and marketing skills normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a related field.

      Required Experience

      Work generally requires one year of related experience in advertising, marketing, media, promotions or public relations or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

      Skills

      • Excellent writing and editorial skills and a working knowledge of graphic design
      • Must understand the importance of following the Law School’s editorial and brand guidelines in all communications
      • Ability to write about complicated topics in a succinct and engaging way and tailor communications for varying audiences
      • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders; be responsive to deadlines and feedback
      • Must be adaptable and willing to learn new technological platforms (AI tools, design, newsletter platforms, etc.)
      • Ability to effectively use desktop publishing and graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.), email marketing software (Mailchimp), project management tools (Asana), and website content management systems (Drupal, Wordpress)

      Minimum Qualifications

      Education

      Work requires communication and marketing skills normally acquired through a bachelor's degree in a related field.

      Experience

      Work generally requires one year related experience in advertising, EXPERIENCE OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR marketing, media, promotions or public relations.
