- Base Salary: The full salary range for the Communications & Community Development Specialist position is $28.45 to $41.70 per hour, with new hires generally starting between $32.90 to $37.25 per hour, based on relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience. This range will be converted to semi-monthly ranges for full-time employees.
- Annual Incentive: In addition, all SELCO team members receive an annual incentive based on how well SELCO meets the prior year’s strategic business goals. This incentive is calculated using the team member’s prior year eligible earnings and ranges from 0%-12% (with the average payout over the last five years being 11.07%).

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to provide writing, editorial, and communications consulting services for internal and external audiences, with an emphasis on community development and financial education.
- Serve as writer and/or editor for letters/emails, web pages, educational resources, and other content to support and increase awareness of SELCO’s community engagement efforts. Ensure appropriate stakeholder input/review/approval; ensure communications remain current.
- Work with team members across the organization to develop and execute internal communications, including articles, stories, announcements, and other intranet content.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure content aligns visually and conceptually across platforms.
- Support the planning, execution, and administration of community development activities, including SELCO-hosted events, sponsorship opportunities, volunteer events, or other initiatives.
- Work with leadership to determine program goals, opportunities, success metrics, and program commitments.
- Work with community nonprofits, schools, and similar organizations to identify mutually beneficial opportunities for program support that fit SELCO’s program goals and provide positive visibility.
- Develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with community partners.
- Measure results and seek input from stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development, planning, execution, and administration of SELCO’s financial education programs and outreach to nonprofits, schools, SELCO members, and communities throughout SELCO’s service area.
- Source and adapt financial education content and curriculum for traditional/nontraditional classroom settings and participants of all ages.
- Coordinate curriculum delivery, including scheduling webinars and seminars, collaborating with facilitators, and ensuring content is tailored to intended audiences.
- Measure results and seek input from stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in responding to emails and feedback submitted through the website, social media, and other channels.
- Represent Marketing by leading and participating in projects, including Strategic Business Initiatives.
- Partner with vendors to process invoices, manage software subscriptions, understand contracts, and maintain positive business relationships.

- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field or equivalent related experience preferred; and
- At least two (2) years of experience in a marketing-, corporate communications-, or community development-related position; and
- Valid Oregon driver’s license; and
- Must be bondable.
Work Location
This position will report onsite to the Corporate Headquarters location in Springfield, Oregon and is possibly eligible for a hybrid onsite and remote work arrangement for those who meet the program requirements. There will be an onsite onboarding period upon hire, followed by a regular Wednesday onsite schedule.

Position Overview
Develop strategic communications, providing writing and editorial support for member-facing and internal communications using words, stories, photos, and videos, with an emphasis on writing. Work with SELCO team members and community partners to develop and execute SELCO’s community development and financial education campaigns, programs, social media, and public relations.

Physical Demands
While performing the job duties, approximately 80% of the time is spent stationary, with the remaining time spent moving around work areas. Frequent communication occurs in person, over the phone, and in writing. This position requires the ability to view a computer screen and interpret printed materials and other documents. This position requires the ability to lift and transport up to 40 pounds, and there is an occasional need to stoop, kneel, or reach to access documents, equipment, and supplies.
Interaction and Work Environment
Reports to: Community Development Supervisor
Work areas are inside in a climate-controlled environment with background noise. Some evening or weekend hours is required as needed for maintaining website and social media.Material and Equipment Used
